OUR HISTORY

100 Strong was founded in 2013 by 5 UC Berkeley undergraduate female students (check out the founders page to learn more about them), who won the Big Ideas at Berkeley competition in the category of Global Poverty Alleviation with the idea of creating a leadership development program for 100 young women. They taught our very first DeCal (student-run class on UC Berkeley's campus) for mentors in Fall 2013 and began the mentorship program in Spring 2014.

Mission Statement:

To combat the lack of female leaders in today’s society by providing middle and high school girls with a network of female mentors and the opportunity to gain leadership skills by implementing their own community projects.

Vision Statement:

To create a world where people of all identities have a chance to participate equally in society.
